What you should know about Challenge Disability Services
Today, Challenge has grown to be one of the largest community encourage services in New South Wales. With over 600 staff, 85 of which have a disability, we strive to conform with and exceed all standards required below State and Federal Acts. Caring for children and young people for over 50 years. Resist Community Services is now the fourth largest provider of outofhome care in MSW providing encourage concern services to over 500 children. To assist people to reach their potential through innovative and people focused services. The Community Resist Services’ board of seven dedicated board members guides our decision making. Our board members have experience and expertise in the disability sector as well as finance and the media. Kevin has been a member of the Challenge board for 53 years and was chairman of the board for 29 years until February 2011. In 2009, Kevin was awarded an AM for his services to people with a disability. Paul is keen to see Resist produce a vital service to people with a disability healthy into the future. Lesley joined the board of directors in 2008. Both Lesley and her son Simon were born with achondroplasia (dwarfism) and her involvement within the disability sector started when Lesley realized she needed to encourage people with a disability, to speak up and urge those who were unable to. Lesley has a background in both radio and television. Ted has been a member of the Defy Community Services board for 39 years and chairman for 5 years. Previously active in local radio, Ted is now concentrating on his rural interests at Willow Tree. Chris joined the board of directors in 2002. Chris values his role on the board for his skill to assist in decision making that directly benefits people with a disability in the local community. Behind a longstanding relationship with Challenge firstly as an auditor, then as a member of the finance committee, Bill joined the board of directors in 2010. A HMS is a set of policies, processes and procedures which an organization uses to plan, flourish and deliver services or manufacture products. As a foster carer, you will play a unique role in the kid or young person’s life. We carefully match children and young people with foster carers. Carefully matching placements, along with the training promote our encourage carers take from us, ensures the placement has the superior chance of success.
